Smaller UK businesses might not know ACCA as well as they know local qualifications, so your best odds usually lie with larger, more international employers rather than small local firms.
A few things genuinely move the needle when it comes to actually landing the role. Full ACCA membership matters more than how many attempts it took you to get there. Employers care that you’re qualified, not how many times you sat a particular paper. Practical skills count for a lot too. Solid Excel work, clear communication, and comfort with tools like Power BI or Xero can set you apart at the interview stage, especially for entry level roles.

When it comes to actually finding openings, don’t rely only on one channel. The ACCA Careers portal lists thousands of live vacancies specifically for ACCA professionals, and it’s surprisingly underused. LinkedIn is another strong option since many UK firms post there directly, and keeping an active, updated profile can bring recruiters to you instead of the other way round.
Licensing and Regulation, the Part People Forget
Even once you’re ACCA qualified and working, there’s a licensing layer that sometimes trips people up. Certain regulated activities in the UK, like signing off statutory audits or offering specific tax services, may require additional local registration on top of your ACCA membership. This won’t affect most roles, especially early career ones in general accounting or finance, but it’s worth knowing about if you’re eyeing a path toward audit partner or a similarly senior, regulated role down the line.
Realistic Expectations, Not Empty Ones
It’s worth being honest here. Getting sponsored straight out of India with no UK experience and no employer connection is genuinely hard.
